Meet Catherine Marston, the creator of the up and coming application, Snowflake. According to their page on kickstarter, Snowflake is an exclusive meetup application for skiers and riders.
“It will connect users based on their ability level, what they primarily focus on at the mountain (i.e. terrain park, glades, back country), and the area they would like to improve.”
Here at Ripclear we know a little something about coming up with an idea on a mountain and putting that idea into action (Hence our goggle lens protecters). When we heard about the idea for this app we fell in love with it and decided to share the love of a fellow ski product that could make an impact. We decided to interview Catherine about Snowflake to hear more about her goals for this application. Check out the full interview below!
1. Can you give us some general information about what Snowflake is?
Snowflake will be the exclusive meet-up application for skiers and snowboarders. It will be a great way for like-minded to meet in a casual setting!
2. Who will be the average user of this app?
We will be marketing to everyone on the mountain so it’s hard to predict that! The average user will probably be in their twenties or thirties looking to meet-up with other users of a similar ability level.
3. When can we expect this app to be up and running?
We cannot wait to launch the application! We are predicting Snowflake will be up and running by mid December next season just in time for the holidays!
4. What sets Snowflake apart from any other meet up application?
Snowflake focuses on one-to-one interactions rather than trying to get groups of people to meet up. It also differentiates from the other applications because it will focus on the users ability level, and what they love to do on the mountain the most. Ideally, two avid skiers who enjoy the terrain park will meet up on the mountain, have a lovely time getting to know one another, and then get an appetizer later that evening at a local restaurant!
That’s our ultimate goal; we want like-minded people that wouldn’t have normally met, to begin a friendship through Snowflake.
5. What advice can you give to those who want to make their great idea a reality?
My two biggest passions are snowboarding and entrepreneurship. I have been working tirelessly on my kickstarter campaign for Snowflake, but it truly doesn’t feel like work because I have such a deep love for every aspect of it. It resonates with people when someone has a deep love for something; they are interested in helping you achieve your goals. I didn’t think people would be as receptive to Snowflake but they have been, and I’m so glad I decided to take the leap in becoming an entrepreneur.
Similar to Snowflake, Ripclear is most effectively seen and understood on a chairlift. Us at Ripclear have made so many great connections with friends on chairlifts so any service that could help bring two people together on the mountain would be a great addition to market!
